Suggestion for the Christian Left

MAGA and the NatC takeover of the US began decades ago. The movement is deeply centered in NatC churches and, when the Republicans partnered with evangelicals they contracted a virus. That virus has now killed the host and threatens the entire country.

During all of this the Christian Left took a very tolerant, "turn the other cheek", agree to disagree approach. For those of us outside now any claims of "those aren't real christians" are very hollow.

But I think there may be a away to rally the Christian left and middle and activate them the way that the NatCs have been activated for decades.

You have to recognize that Christian Nationalism is a threat to existence of your churches. Your pastors need to talk about it from the pulpit.

NatCs believe that the first amendment is written solely to protect christianity from government. They believe that separation of church and state is evil. So, of course, their solution is to seize hold of the state. But these kinds of movements never have a stopping point. Their quest for purity will become more and more exclusive.

This is why your churches are at risk. I'm sure that your pastors try to stay within the bounds of the 501(c)(3) requirement against lobbying. NatC churches don't care. They lobby every Sunday from the pulpit. I encourage you to ask your pastors to take up this issue - your fellow parishioners need to get out and vote against any and all republicans because they WILL come to shut your churches down for being too liberal and being "sanctuaries" for horrible progressive ideals like DEI, women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, etc.

The Christian Left needs to stand up and show itself if it wants to survive.

The DNC has finally broken my ability to give

In recent years I have been more able to donate to party needs. That resource is not unlimited, however, and I need to strategize my giving.

In the past, I did that. I found candidates I wanted to support and donated.

The information I shared with those candidates, however, has been passed around the party like it was a charcuterie tray.

I now get so much email and text so often that I am overwhelmed with requests and am no longer able to strategize.

I get 50-100 times more texts begging for money than I get texts from friends and family. I now cringe at the sound of texts just as I do a phone ringing.

This combined with the storm of fraudsters in the area due to recent flooding and I've simply shut down.

I have one local charity I know and I give to and all my giving will be focused there. I don't have the time or ability to vet all these other requests. So I'm just giving up and doing what I can where I know it makes a difference.

If the party ever learns the etiquette of data privacy, maybe I'll be able to donate again. But until this flood stops, I'm seeking my own shelter.

Meta is not community

There has been a lot of complaining from people not wanting to leave Farcebook because "they've built communities" there.

If losing a single social media group is enough to shatter your community you never had a community to begin with.

What you have is a massively multiplayer role playing game (MMRPG) where you are roleplaying a community. You have no idea who the other players are, where they are, what their real names are, what they look like or, most importantly, how to connect with them outside that group.

One argument I saw talked about how disenfranchised groups get pushed out of "public" spaces. Guess what? THESE ARE NOT PUBLIC SPACES. They are private data mining operations that mine every word you write to build a profile on you. If these platforms choose to do so they could hand your profile over to the FBI and authorities could be at your door in hours.

Far from being "private" your every utterance is monitored. If you think you are "safe" while "organizing" on social media you may was well go hold your meetings in the local FBI lunchroom.

This is why the right outflanked us AGAIN. Their communities are anchored in churches. They see each other's faces every week. They know each other's names, phone numbers, cars and home addresses. If someone is out of reach the odds are good that three other people know how to contact them.

That's community that can't be turned off with a power switch. It can't be deleted from a database. It isn't holding its meetings where every word is archived for authorities. If something happens to impact that community, like a church burning down, it will reassemble in short order somewhere else.

If your Facebook group goes offline, then what? Some groups have backup groups. The smarter groups are on multiple platforms but the smartest groups exist in the real world. In coffee shops or small cells. They have multiple ways to communicate.

Who really benefits from gaslighting people to keep their Facebook "communities"? It's Meta and whoever they choose to sell your info to. But it's not you. You're just a product waiting to be sold ... or sold out.

I just heard about the "trans inmate" commercial. No, I'm not going to look it up I don't need to abuse myself. But I am curious, because I am a mathematically oriented person - how many trans-inmate cases actually exist?

Any chance of upgrades to the harris/walz signs and t-shirts?

I'll buy one either way but the Harris/Walz t-shirts are kind of dull. I can find several that have more pop but I want the money to go to the campaign. Any chance of an upgrade?

Can anybody here tell the difference between chimpanzee and human DNA?

They are 99.3% the same. So, if an IVF clinic in Alabama loses its records, how do we know that the freezer has Human DNA? A zygote is just a nutrient container with a strand of DNA. At what point do we know it's human?

Colorado is NOT "deciding the election for the nation"

I can NOT believe MSNBC is giving this line of thought as much play as it is and not answering the question.

Colorado is making decision for Colorado. Every state has a right to appoint its electors however it chooses. It's only been the last 150 years that that has been done by popular vote. So Colorado can set up its ballot however it wants.

If Colorado IS "deciding the election for the nation" then the first-in-time primaries need to come to an end. They have far more influence on the election than Colorado will have with this one decision.

And yes Justice Kavanaugh and Alito, it COULD result in each of the states making their own decisions. It's called States' rights and this is a clearly defined state right. I thought you guys were all for that?
