So, fine -- if the trump administration is really so determined to honor Charlie Kirk, then they should certainly honor his last wish.

Ever since watching RFKjr telling that ridiculous lie about why he fired.....
the head of the CDC, I wanted to find a comparable example of someone lying who was completely incognizant of how unconvincing their lie was.
So, here's the two videos I offer for comparison.

US air force to grant military honors to Capitol rioter fatally shot on January 6
Source: The Guardian
The US air force will provide military funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt, the rioter fatally shot during the January 6 Capitol attack, marking another step in Donald Trumps aggressive rehabilitation of the attack.
The under secretary of the air force, Matthew Lohmeier, confirmed the decision in an August letter to Babbitts family. The Biden administration previously denied Babbitt the honors, but Lohmeier said he was persuaded that the previous determination was incorrect after reviewing new information about her death.
Babbitt, 35, served in the air force and air national guard and was shot by Capitol Hill police as she climbed through a barricaded door near the House chamber in the mass frenzy to overthrow the results of the 2020 election. The air force had originally refused honors in February 2021, according to Lohmeiers letter, saying they would bring discredit upon the Air Force due to the circumstances of her death. She was the only person killed by gunfire during the riot.

I provide Honor Guard services with other members of my American Legion Post at the funerals of local veterans. I am proud to do so. I would have to draw the line at such a funeral as this.
Am I the first Legionaire to notice political bias coming from leadership?
The American Legion puts out a "Weekly Grassroots Newsletter" that gets emailed to their members. Most of the concerns are of a legislative nature.
The one that showed up this morning had a big section about "VA TO REDUCE STAFF BY NEARLY 30K BY END OF FY2025". The writer of the article seemed to be applauding that the Department of Veterans Affairs is "on pace to reduce total VA staff by nearly 30,000 employees by the end of fiscal year 2025, eliminating the need for a large-scale reduction-in-force."
I don't know why that is something to be proud of.
But, what got me angry was the repetitive slamming of the Biden Administration!
VAs disability claims backlog is already down nearly 30%, after it increased 24% during the Biden Administration.
VA is processing record numbers of disability claims, reaching 1 million claims processed for FY25 on Feb. 20 and reaching 2 million claims by June both achievements were done in record time.
VA has implemented major reforms to make it easier for survivors to get benefits, after serious problems during the Biden Administration.
VA is accelerating the deployment of its integrated electronic health record system, after the program was nearly dormant for almost two years under the Biden Administration.
VA is phasing out treatment for gender dysphoria. Frankly, this commonsense reform should have been done years ago, but only President Trump and Secretary Collins had the courage to do it.
VA ended DEI at the department, reversing the divisive Biden-era policies and stopping more than $14 million in DEI spending.
VA has brought more than 60,000 VA employees back to the office, where we can work better as a team to serve Veterans.
I wrote an angry email back to the publication.
I knew the 'poem', "First they came for the Socialists", but didn't know the man
In keeping with his right-wing, antisemitic outlook, Niemöller enthusiastically welcomed the Nazi regime in 1933. He voted for the Nazi Party in March of that year.
Niemöllers enthusiasm for the new government led by Adolf Hitler quickly waned, however, when the Nazi regime began to interfere in church policy. In 1933, Hitler threw his support behind a radical faction within the Protestant churches known as the Deutsche Christen (in English, the German Christians). The German Christians portrayed Jesus as an Aryan and denied that he was Jewish. They rejected the authority of the Old Testament and sought to alter parts of the New Testament. Their goal was to remove what they called Jewish elements from Christianity. This included prohibiting pastors with Jewish ancestry from serving in the Protestant church. Niemöller led the opposition to the German Christians and Hitlers church policy.
Niemöller's attitude toward the Nazi regime further transformed in January 1934 after a meeting with Adolf Hitler. Niemöller and other prominent Protestant church leaders met Hitler to discuss the relationship between church and state. At this meeting, it became clear that the Gestapo (the Secret State Police) had tapped Niemöller's phone. The Pastors Emergency League (Pfarrernotbund), which Niemöller had helped found in 1933, was also under close state surveillance. Hitler's hostility made it clear to Niemöller that the Protestant Church and the Nazi state could not be reconciled unless Protestants were willing to compromise their faith. Niemöller was not willing to do this.
As a result, Niemöller became an outspoken critic of Nazi church policy. On July 1, 1937, the Gestapo arrested and imprisoned him as a political prisoner for the next eight years. A number of international religious leaders made calls for his release. However, Niemöller was not freed until May 1945, when the Allies defeated Nazi Germany and liberated him and other concentration camp prisoners.

"Meta boss praises new US army division enlisting tech execs as lieutenant colonels"
Andrew Bosworth, a long-term lieutenant to Mark Zuckerberg known widely as Boz, is one of several senior Silicon Valley executives commissioned to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the corps, called Detachment 201, which the US army says will fuse cutting-edge tech expertise with military innovation.
Bosworth, who joined Facebook in 2006, was sworn into the army reserves earlier this month alongside Shyam Sankar, the chief technology officer of Palantir, a technology firm with extensive defence contracts, Kevin Weil, chief product officer of OpenAI, and Bob McGrew, an adviser at Thinking Machines Lab, a $10bn AI company. They wore military fatigues at the swearing-in ceremony but will not be full-time soldiers.

This just doesn't sit well with me. No military training whatsoever, no physical exams, apparently. Just big-shot tech bros, jumped up to Lt. Colonel in exchange for their tech advice. Hopefully, they were properly investigated for Security Clearances!
I used to be a Mormon, and I'm not one of those who habor ill-will.
But I don't understand how, having had a recent cup of coffee can keep you from getting a Temple Recommend (a permission to enter the LDS Temples issued only after an intrusive annual examination by Church leadership to ensure adherence to LDS moral guidelines), but Utah's US Senator Mike Lee can skate by after making reprehensible jokes about the assassination of a Democratic politician and her husband?
I'm not Catholic either, but I have a bit of confidence that Pope Leo would have called out a Catholic politician who made such comments.
So where is the comparable statement from the Prophet of the LDS Church??
I was just reading 'Stars and Stripes', and their coverage of tRump's parade
It started off truthfully enough, but seemed to purposely avoid giving actual numbers.
However, as the report went on, the vague numbers got a little more telling:
Then the scale of the embarrassment shone in its full glory:

The "thousands" managed to slip to "hundreds" quickly, before nearly disappearing into "dozens", all within the space of " less than two hours".
