(5,272 posts)money coopting the democratic party's positions and message, perhaps because you are in favor of corporatist positions yourself, but Sander's positions aren't far afield of what the Democratic Party used to stand for. We have every right as part of the democratic party to help to define what our party should look like. I assure you the DNC leadership didn't simply invite him in out of the kindness of their hearts; they just didn't want to look like they were brokering the convention, even while for the most part, they were. Why? Because they have an interest in continuing to let us believe that the party operates on democratic principles.
Actually, in fairness, your proposal isn't that unreasonable. At least if the party had barred Bernie, it would have sent a more honest message than it wanted to about how things are done.
