2. A very real problem in the whole ufo thing is that there are very few people who know about all of the known atmospheric phenomena and the conditions, the night sky, aeronautics, brain processing, and whatever other factors I'm leaving out. Throw in stress in many of these situations, add it to the lack of knowledge, and all you're left with is...well, people saw something.
3. I once saw a very compelling "ufo" one night. I assure you that it's quite spooky. However, I didn't jump to conclusions. I determined that I was going to rule out everything I could think of to explain my observation. Fortunately, after a few minutes, a second flock of geese decided to fly over me while honking and the "ufo" resolved into points of light (individual geese reflecting the city lights). I was still weirded out for a couple of hours. The reaction to these sightings can be very powerful.
4. There is zero evidence for ufos being extraterrestrial vehicles. People see things that they don't understand and try to make some sense of it while lacking the expertise (or luck, in my case) to figure out what they are looking at.
