Any talk about Canada becoming the 51st state automatically includes the reality that it would mean the deaths of thousands of Americans and Canadians, whether the speaker acknowledges it or not.

Talking explicitly about those deadly consequences doesn’t “feed the idea” (I assume by that you mean it will make it more likely it will happen).

Many Canadians are already talking about annexation in terms of invasion, occupation, war and death.
