.. yes, they're historically one of the best teams in CFB, but they were often mediocre-to-genuinely TERRIBLE and their coaching was a laughingstock after Bryant died in 1983 until alumni and boosters pitched in and raised hell and a TON of money to get Saban (in 2007) from Miami. Now they're on a precipice again, but we'll see how this season plays out. There is a generation of fans who have no memory of things like losing the Music City bowl to Va Tech and Minnesota, or the debacle of the Three Mikes and a Dennis Coaching Circus.
