"You've gotta hold your tongue right" professional plumbing advice [View all]

I endeavored to replace the cartridge valve in the hot water control in our downstairs 1/2 bath. Big mistake. Never could break the bolt or get it out. Soooo I decided to take the whole thing out and try to replace it. Disconnected one supply line to a brass T. If I get the T broken then whole thing will come out. Nope. Couldn’t get that to break either. WD40 vinegar lots of tools wrenches and swearing.
Okay no hot water. Keep the supply shut off and reconnect everything. I can’t get the supply back on the T. Tight quarters. Head up under the sink.

I went to an actual plumbing supply place - not a big box. I explained the situation. I had pics because I didn’t want to disconnect the other end of the line. I have one headache why have two?

Youngish guy. Not in a smartass way but he said “You’ve just got to get your tongue right”
Me: like 😜🤪?
Him:Yep. Just keep working on it.

An older guy was there. He said to get as much light as possible on it.
Me: Yeah it’s up under the sink.
Him: it’s a young man’s job. You start there and eventually work up and hire a new guy to do that part of the job.

We all laughed.
