"You've gotta hold your tongue right" professional plumbing advice

I endeavored to replace the cartridge valve in the hot water control in our downstairs 1/2 bath. Big mistake. Never could break the bolt or get it out. Soooo I decided to take the whole thing out and try to replace it. Disconnected one supply line to a brass T. If I get the T broken then whole thing will come out. Nope. Couldn’t get that to break either. WD40 vinegar lots of tools wrenches and swearing.
Okay no hot water. Keep the supply shut off and reconnect everything. I can’t get the supply back on the T. Tight quarters. Head up under the sink.

I went to an actual plumbing supply place - not a big box. I explained the situation. I had pics because I didn’t want to disconnect the other end of the line. I have one headache why have two?

Youngish guy. Not in a smartass way but he said “You’ve just got to get your tongue right”
Me: like 😜🤪?
Him:Yep. Just keep working on it.

An older guy was there. He said to get as much light as possible on it.
Me: Yeah it’s up under the sink.
Him: it’s a young man’s job. You start there and eventually work up and hire a new guy to do that part of the job.

We all laughed.

Always takes at least three trips and maybe a second plumbing supply. I've actually taken a couple joints I couldn't break loose to my plumber friend. He never stood up, handed him wrenches, he sat and broke them loose and chuckled. I went to plastic after that. Still takes three trips and running like a cat on hot tin roofm

Sure, I toyed with the idea of doing it myself but only briefly. The old faucets came with the house so they were 34 years old and all I could think of was what a mess if I did it and something went wrong. So I called the guys who installed my new furnace and central air last year and they gave me an estimate of $400 to replace the faucets and any problems that might arise with the old installation. They estimated about an hour's work. It took them three hours and they had to replace all the supply lines. The hot supply in the bathroom sink actually fell off when the plumber tried turning it off and the kitchen sink arrangement with the dishwasher needed reconfiguring. These plumbers are a father-son business so they gave free estimates. If you hire one of the larger operators, they will often charge a flat rate just to visit the house for an estimate.

Our kitchen sink faucet got installed backwards so cold is left and hot is right. There’s this 1/2 bath sink and our bathroom upstairs the lever doesn’t really lift the plug in her sink. I used Draino last weekend on my sink which wasn’t draining.

A plumber may do the trick. Quickly and right which are my main concerns.
