Scrub russet and poke a few holes. Put in the oven at whatever temp you like and bake until it smells done. Check it by poking it with that fork--make sure you poke all the way into the center. At 350, depending on the size of your spud, it'll take 45 min to an hour. I like big potatoes, so mine take an hour. Or I bake them at 400 for maybe 1/2 an hour; your nose is your indication of doneness.
The skin will be dry and crisp but not burnt--delicious on its own with butter & sc.
