Agnew got that deal but his was garden variety corruption-not stealing and sharing U.S.military and nuclear secrets.

The crime is too serious,plus Trump even if not president would still be a loud voice that would continue to be influential in politics, speaking for other candidates he endorses, etc.

He needs to go to jail for decades.

Maybe cutting his potential sentence down to 10 years instead of 100 or more would be worth it to avoid a trial, but nothing short of that in my view.
