And a dodge.

The truce is with Hamas. But the attackers were a Hamas splinter group, or maybe a clan or some other group. So Hamas didn't break the truce.

And, you know, since the truce is with Hamas, if one of those groups goes and kills IDF folk, well, so what? Who's the truce with? Not those groups! But with Hamas! So Israel can't really retaliate against any Palestinians because, well, Hamas represents all Palestinians. (Even those it executes.)

The logic is tortured, but I've seen logic brought back from being tortured to death numerous times by artificial means and still propped up and celebrated as rock solid and impeccable by believers and supporters or whatever.
