8. Very rarely, especially among the younger people, do I get a thanks or even an attempt

to reach out and hold the door themselves any more. They just walk in/out with their hands at their sides acting as if I were the automatic door opener.

I take pleasure in just getting a smile from some, and the few that thank me, make me ecstatic.
