Dispute over woman not saying 'thank you' at Dallas store allegedly led to deadly shooting: Affidavit

Source: ABC News

A woman was fatally shot during an altercation at a Texas shopping center that allegedly began when the victim became upset at the alleged shooter for "not saying thank you" when she held a door open for her, according to court filings.

The shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of a shopping center in southwest Dallas, according to the arrest warrant affidavit obtained by ABC News.

Cecilia Simpson, 41, was shot multiple times, according to Dallas police. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police said the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Keona Hampton, left the scene before officers arrived. She was located later that day and arrested for murder, police said.

Because she's Black? I look at that photo and see a Black woman who stood her ground against an aggressive, stalking bigot.

Do I understand you to say that the person who held the door and was shot was an 'an aggressive, stalking bigot'?
And that the woman who shot her was a 'Black woman who stood her ground'?

That is absolutely flabbergasting!

and still didn't get the story straight, as I mixed up the shooter and victim. So mea culpa.

But I still say posting a picture of a Black suspect to illustrate that they probably have mental problems is not cool. You could have just posted your thoughts without her photo. What was it about the photo that you chose to post it with your commentary?

I posted my response to the wrong post. When will I learn to not post before I've had my full two cups of coffee?

(Answer: been here 21 years, so probably never gonna learn this.)

16. I read the rest of the thread below and saw you got clear on who was who

My point was based on the fact that
a) it looks like she has a crossed eye, which can be indicative of drug use and/or a mental issue (regardless of skin tone), and
b) she shot another woman over a mild criticism directed at her (because she failed to say "thank you" when having a door held open for her) which maybe does not indicate someone who is living in a positive mental state
c) when I imagine a "gun-humper", a young black woman carrying a hand gun (which, given the times, actually seems prudent) is not the image that comes to my mind for me. I think of a gun humper as someone who owns, like, a small arsenal of high-powered weapons, hollers about their 2A rights, and is typically male, and white.
d) she may have been toting around the weapon because she was having problems with someone else, maybe she herself was living under threat, which would also be "an other problem"

I wouldn't have said anything at all without the 'gun-humper' portion of the criticism, to be very clear. Did not mean to be offensive to anyone, I do apologize if it came out that way. I should have elaborated better!

to reach out and hold the door themselves any more. They just walk in/out with their hands at their sides acting as if I were the automatic door opener.

I take pleasure in just getting a smile from some, and the few that thank me, make me ecstatic.

In my day-to-day contacts with people, it's always the younger generations who are the most polite.
