Note that the charges are conspiracy to defraud the US, conspiracy/attempt to obstruct official proceedings. etc.

The charges DO NOT include seditious conspiracy or attempted sedition and the like.

sedition - noun - conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch

What Trump did was clearly sedition/seditious conspiracy. But Smith is treading carefully, even in his bold and decisive actions. This is extremely wise as sedition can get pretty subjective and a smart defense attorney could sway a jury into indecisiveness about whether or not sedition has occurred.

Defrauding and obstructing are more clear cut. And, even if smart people can debate whether Trump's actions rose to the level of sedition, they can't debate defraud and obstruct. Those are objectively true and provable.

I say that Jack Smith is the best prosecutor in America today. And he's younger than I am.
