The National Weather Service has confirmed that multiple tornadoes touched down in the Chicago area Wednesday evening, including one at O'Hare International Airport.

Earlier on Wednesday, the NWS urged Cook County residents to seek shelter immediately after a "large and extremely dangerous" tornado was spotted near Summit.

While unclear if it was a separate storm, tornado damage was also reported in nearby Bridgeview and Stickney.

Confirmed tornadoes were also reported by the NWS near South Elgin and Campton Hills in Kane County, before a tornado was spotted near O'Hare International Airport.
