10. Anyone remember "Amarcord" (the Fellini film)...?

It dealt with a fictionalized version of his youth in a small town during the fascist era. When it was first released, it was regarded as poetic and lighthearted, a departure from his usual heavy-handed expressionist style. What he pointed out, and what most critics failed to notice, was that everyone in the town was behaving in an immature, childish manner. According to Fellini, that was his whole point – to show how life under fascism infantalizes those living under it. And that lots of people seem to like that.
