(4,612 posts)Start going to meetings and shake things up. You have more power than you know and using it will strengthen you. If you feel this way, so do others.
Last year we had a county chair who seemed to do nothing to help us win. Its not that he didnt try, its that he had too much on his plate. He was a good man, but not very effective as a chair for that period of his life. He did recommend a lady to take his place. We voted her in and almost overnight, our local party was transformed. The number of precinct chairs, the life blood of the party quintupled! We started having fundraisers frequently, social events weekly; we started getting to know other Dems in our communitythere are a lot more of them than you realize and they NEED you, just like you need them. We had to rent a church sanctuary to hold our monthly meetings because our headquarters would no longer hold us all. We have people block walking for all the candidates now. It didnt happen overnight, but it happened pretty damn fast once we dealt with a few obstacles that were holding us back. Youd be surprised how much you can do and how fast things can change.
Go to a few meetings, figure out what they are dealing with, make suggestions, volunteer, talk to others in the party. You can bet there are others who see what you see. Make connections and strategies to overcome the difficulties the party is dealing with. Dont give up on the only engine that will take you where you want to go. Roll up your sleeves and get involved.
