So taxing them needs to be a part of how we fix it.

Wealthy people fear democracy because they fear that their wealth will be taken away by the majority. The Constitution has strong protections for that wealthy minority. Those protections are often exploited in ways that hurt the lower income classes.

Oh, and we need to tax wealth as well as income. It is far too easy for wealthy people to manipulate their incomes to reduce their tax burden.
