Virtually all dark richly colored fruits & vegetables are high in the oxylates that cause most kidney stones. There are several types, but oxylate/calcium stones are the most common. They look like little grains of sand and salt.
My urologist says water, green tea with lemon, clear soda or even light beer are best when passing one. If it makes you pee, that's what you really want, but drink a lot and pee more. If I eat or drink dark, richly colored fruits and vegetables, I have to follow them with a glass of water to help wash the oxylates and keep them from binding to any calcium.
I passed one just last week. I've had the basket procedure and lithotropsy for kidney stones. My husband's also had several, one very big. We live in an area with a large concentration of kidney stone occurrences.
