Dolly Parton Is Suffering from Kidney Stones As Her Sister Apologizes for Worrying Everyone

https://consequence.net/2025/10/dolly-parton-is-suffering-from-kidney-stones-as-her-sister-apologizes-for-worrying-everyone/

Dolly Parton’s sister says she didn’t mean to concern her fans when she asked for prayers for her sister in a recent social media post.

“I want to clear something up. I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly,” Freida Parton said in a Facebook post shared late Tuesday night. “She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister. Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference.”

In a separate Facebook post earlier on Tuesday, Freida said she had “been all night praying for my sister, Dolly, adding, “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”

A representative for Dolly told Las Vegas Review-Journal that the singer is fine and merely waiting for a procedure to address kidney stones. The 79-year-old musician is even well enough to record a music video on Wednesday, he representative added.

I'm 81 years old and still remember that pain as the worst.

Dolly is a national treasure, and we don't want her suffering from any sort of pain, even the non-life-threatening kind, either.

My advice is tart or black cherry juice. Works like a charm. Of course no alcohol as well.

few glasses of iced black tea and give up the 2-3 cups of hot green tea I would drink in a day. I was surprised at that. I knew about the dark leafy greens and other high oxalate foods and will have to look into the tart cherry juice! I'm also supposed to drink 120 oz of plain water and take a cranberry supplement each day. I rarely get to 100oz, let alone 120oz. It's a known fact in our ER that Oct/Nov are kidney stone season. They think it's mainly due to lack of adequate hydration during the summer months.

I can certainly feel for anyone that has ever had kidney stones. I have an appt on the 27th to have 2 6mm stones blasted. Once stones hit 5mm, they said they don't come out on their own so the have to be either blasted (lithotripsy) or lasered.

The cherry juice works very well for the most common kidney stones. In fact if he gets a twinge in his back he starts drinking it and it goes away.

Not the most common type, calcium oxalate. Cherry juice may make them worse. The best approach is water, lemon/lime juice.

Eta - I passed a 7mm stone a couple months ago, that's when I got serious about the problem, it wasn't my first.

Virtually all dark richly colored fruits & vegetables are high in the oxylates that cause most kidney stones. There are several types, but oxylate/calcium stones are the most common. They look like little grains of sand and salt.
My urologist says water, green tea with lemon, clear soda or even light beer are best when passing one. If it makes you pee, that's what you really want, but drink a lot and pee more. If I eat or drink dark, richly colored fruits and vegetables, I have to follow them with a glass of water to help wash the oxylates and keep them from binding to any calcium.
I passed one just last week. I've had the basket procedure and lithotropsy for kidney stones. My husband's also had several, one very big. We live in an area with a large concentration of kidney stone occurrences.

The phosphoric acid in colas was the culprit with my kidney stones.

If she wanted to be euphemistic, she could have added the word "minor" (but she didn't) and then the heart-tugging "Dolly has given so much... it's time we give back" (again... these are END OF LIFE words and suggestions.)

WTF is wrong with her?? Is she looking for attention? Does she have some sort of Munchausen syndrome?
