Yeah, we've got those in northern Minnesota, too. And black flies. Still, I'd rather live in a northern climate than in warmer places where there are palmetto bugs the size of cats and everything else is venomous. Especially the politicians. I've only ever been in Alaska in the summer, though; I did enjoy being able to wander around downtown Anchorage in semi-daylight at midnight.
