(12,801 posts)...having major party figures not only fail to endorse you, but actually work *against* you, is damaging to the party. As I said in the other post, it's not just that NY Dem establishment figures Cuomo and Adams didn't endorse him when he won, but actually chose to leave the party and run against him and put lots of time and money (esp. Cuomo) into telling New Yorkers how terrible Mamdani is, is definietly an action against him by someone the NY public still sees very much as an establishment Democratic figure (even if you do not).
And the New York State party leader making a point of not endorsing him was significant as well. I agree, that endorsement wouldn't have meant anything. Even if endorsements mattered (I agree, generally debatable), everyone expects the party leader to endorse their candidate. But in this case his specific NON-endorsement also telegraphs what the NY Democratic establishment thinks of Mamdami.
