7. Liberia has one of the most interesting histories of any African nation.

Not a peaceful history, so much, but a fascinating one.

The Wikipedia article on Liberia tells the story pretty well. I first learned about it in 8th grade, by writing an essay about it. We got to choose a country for that homework assignment. I chose Liberia. Then I did some research in the school library. Fascinating.
