(2,151 posts)But Biden had the lowest approval of any president running for reelection since H.W. Bush in 1992. It's clear Americans were not satisfied with the job he was doing and, fairly or not, blamed him for a lot of their frustrations. We have to accept that not only did Biden decide to run with extremely low approval, by the time he dropped out, and Harris took over, the campaign decided to not separate her from Biden.
Was it a winning strategy? Obviously not.
Did it cost her the election? Who knows? This was still a relatively close election so it's hard to say how things would have gone differently if:
1. Biden decided back in 2023 to not run.
2. Harris didn't throw Biden under the bus but was a bit more open to detaching from the administration.
