Trump's approval rating was underwater in the months going into the election. He was there for the taking. Whether Kamala was a flawed candidate, or she could have pulled further ahead if Biden exited earlier will always be a matter of speculation.
But there's no point in conspiracy theories. The Electoral College, voter suppression, and failed journalism are more than enough without worrying about "the fix." Add to that the depressingly high level of misogyny in this country and you've got more than enough to chew on.
