(5,268 posts)If there were cheats, I think it's more likely that many mail-in ballots disappeared. Again, across the nation making any cheat difficult, but the return rate of ballots mailed to voters was dismally low. That's suspicious, given the enthusiasm for this election. How did that happen? That's where I'd look. In the swing states, what happened to all those ballots not returned? Did this happen at higher rates in the blue cities as opposed to red counties?
The fact that the total vote is less than 2016 and much less than 2020 in this year of enthusiasm makes me wonder. Who sat on their ballots? Who returned them but they got destroyed, say, in a few key postal centers?
I really don't know what happened, but I have a major case of post-election blues.
PS/ I haven't seen more up-to-date numbers on mail ballots. Better numbers may zap my speculations here. But, when wondering about this, keep in mind that Trump told rally goers to not mail in their ballots (to vote in person), and things like he had the votes he needed, no one will have to vote again, etc. Rightwing coup, perhaps? These are very scary times.
