2. To refuse to allow an individual trans OR cis-gendered individual right to self-identify is wrong

and discriminatory. While we all can agree that trans individuals deserve the right to identify as they please and we must support them in doing so, to see some advocate for denying this-- or any other woman-- the right to do likewise is hard to fathom.

Inclusion is expected. "Pregnant women and other pregnant persons" is inclusive if the subject is pregnant. Respect is individualized and referring to self-identifying cis women as '''generic pregnant persons' is not inclusive, it is exclusive of 99% of those who can and do become pregnant and have continued to identify as a woman. We deserve that respect just as the trans community does as well and needs to be included in such discussions.

Respect goes in both directions. If we advocate (as we should) for the trans community to identify as they wish, to live the lives that they wish, and to get the appropriate health care, then we too must respect self-identified women to do likewise.

I think most of the latter will find it horrifying that, as they acknowledge fully the challenges and rights of the trans community and advocate for THEM, they are at risk of losing the choice to determine their own preferred identity. It is simply wrong.

I don't personally think a lot of Ana Kasparian for reasons unrelated to this issue--and I can't speak to whether or not she has been appropriately respectful of the trans community, so that is a separate discussion open for debate. She does, however, have every right to identify and be called a woman if that is her choice and NO ONE should advocate for taking that right away. No one.
