people who insist he never will. I have little regard for either group. But claiming one of these speculative statements being false as a basis for claiming the other is true does not make much sense.

We can certainly extrapolate enough from what's been happening so far to keep making equally categorical pronouncements of either kind, but the chances of these pronouncements reflecting real outcomes are slim to none. As you rightfully remarked, none of us have inside knowledge. And knowledge is the first, if not the only ingredient to get us past idle speculations.
