(1,495 posts)I had quit twice in the past and never threw out my 3 remaining packs. I kept them on the top shelf in my closet instead of giving them away or tossing them. Sure enough, a stressful situation arised (my husband getting in car accident) and I'd be tempted and said, "I'll just have one to calm my nerves." Then I was back to full-time smoking. Then I quit again for a year and had a whole carton of leftover cigarettes in my closet! My daughter was getting married and she was the worst bridezilla ever so I thought, "One cigarette will help relieve this stress!" That time, I didn't go back to full-time smoking, but I was still sneaking 2 or 3 a day. I'd walk down the street to sneak them because I was too embarrassed to let my husband and younger son know. Now I know I can never have any cigarettes in my house or I'd just keep relapsing because apparently I am weak willed.
