I'd bet a days pay that when he got inside, they immediately had him on oxygen and/or a CPAP machine.

I have COPD and back before I quit smoking (3 years ago April 12) I would get serious episodes where I could barely breath. I would take myself to the ER and they would put me on a CPAP with O2 added for a day or two, along with pumping me full of Prednisone. Even when they discharged me it was a struggle to walk to the car, much less a flight of stairs.

If getting Covid like Trumpy had it is anything close to what I had, he struggled enormously to keep from looking weak, as that is a serious concern of his, what with his massive ego and all.

When I quit 20 years ago I had all kinds of energy, and even though I gained weight, I did a lot more moving around.

This time I didn't get that extra energy, but I also haven't been back to the hospital since!

The last cigarette I had put me in the hospital for 7 days, and I thought I had screwed the pooch, frankly. Most of my previous COPD episodes put me in for 3 or 4 days, tops, but that one was really bad and scared the shit out of me. So I said "That's it. I've smoked enough of them fucking things!" The last pack I bought had been that previous February and I had gotten down to bumming one or two a day and taking a drag off and tossing it. The last one, I smoked the whole thing and the next morning I woke up to the all too familiar feeling that a serious episode was coming on. I was on a trip to North Carolina and when I got back to Jacksonville the next day I was seriously into it and had to have my nephew take me to the ER. Edit: I don't know why this got cut off when I posted it, but I meant to say - I was THIS close to being intubated.

I was lucky. I quit before I had any side affects. I got the typical smokers hack which went away in about a month after quitting. I had quit about 4 times before that and even picked up smoking again once after quitting for 3 years.

But now, I just don't want to smoke. It is just too deadly for us older folks.

I call it a Slow Motion Suicide. Some folks can smoke till they die of other causes. Not me. My lungs told me they had had enough of the abuse and were going to stop working if I didn't knock it off!

I'm lucky so far, as I have had annual chest scans (MRI's? I don't know...the big donut thingy! LOL ) for the last 4 years and no signs of any cancer of any kind so far.

I do occasionally get the urge for one, but I'm terrified of even taking one single drag. When I smell I am downwind of a smoker I hold my breath till I have passed it.

Congratulations backatya for finally putting them down. The tobacco companies have over a century knowingly sold a product that, when used as directed, sooner or later kills a significant percentage of their users. It's been long said that if they tried to introduce that product now, the FDC would laugh them out of the office.

I had quit twice in the past and never threw out my 3 remaining packs. I kept them on the top shelf in my closet instead of giving them away or tossing them. Sure enough, a stressful situation arised (my husband getting in car accident) and I'd be tempted and said, "I'll just have one to calm my nerves." Then I was back to full-time smoking. Then I quit again for a year and had a whole carton of leftover cigarettes in my closet! My daughter was getting married and she was the worst bridezilla ever so I thought, "One cigarette will help relieve this stress!" That time, I didn't go back to full-time smoking, but I was still sneaking 2 or 3 a day. I'd walk down the street to sneak them because I was too embarrassed to let my husband and younger son know. Now I know I can never have any cigarettes in my house or I'd just keep relapsing because apparently I am weak willed.

Trump was severely ill, but he got all the best treatments that were available at the time and got better relatively quick. I was disgusted with Trump downplaying his Covid infection as no one else could get the treatments he received and there were no vaccines. However, 10,000 -12,000 people a month are still dying from Covid, so some people aren't so lucky. And I worry about long term damage and health complications. I'm really glad Biden is alright.
