20. Similar situation where I shop.

I would imagine it varies in different areas.

There are always unexplained shortages and outages at the supermarket during the last two years. For instance, we wanted to make Stroganoff last night so I needed to pick up some egg noodles. There was plenty of every kind of pasta you could have imagined, but six feet of empty shelf empty of every brand of egg noodles. The only ones they had were some really expensive gourmet ones. I paid 5.99 for a bag of noodles, but damn, they were good.

Several years ago the Family Birth Center at the local hospital where I volunteered was having a 20th anniversary celebration. Sort of like a street fair for kids in the parking lot. My daughter ran that department and asked if the volunteers could provide several hundred hot dogs and buns to give away to the kids. We did, and I went to all three supermarkets in town and bought every beef hot dog they had.

Probably left a lot of people scratching their heads about why there are no beef hot dogs in the stores.
