12. Point #4 deserves special attention.

I know some Mexican-Americans, some Puerto-Rican Americans, some Cuban Americans, and some Columbian Americans. Except for the Cubans, of whom I am not fond, they’re all awesome people in their own ways, but they are outrageously different. It is silly and self-defeating to lump them together. They aren’t even fond of one another, for various reasons, and I want to respect that.

If and when we Democrats “reach out” to them, politically, we need to do so in a far-more-sensitive and respectful manner. They’re not the same, and it’s insulting and demeaning for us to act as if they are homogeneous.

With a special shout out to my Puerto-Rican friends. Y’all are great, and I am thrilled that you look like you’re going to agree (finally) to take a shot at being a State of the United States.
