And this: August 17, 1985 - In one of the pivotal struggles of the 1980s, United Food and Commercial Workers Local P-9 went on strike against the Hormel Co. in Austin, Minnesota. Though the strikers galvanized support from across the nation, divisions within the UFCW and the community ultimately led to defeat.
