FREMONT, Neb. (AP) — Dodge County supervisors have approved a severance package for jail employees who will lose their jobs by a deal to house inmates in neighboring Saunders County.
Supervisor Paul Marsh says the package includes salary, depending on length of employment, and health insurance for 90 days.
Dodge and Saunders counties signed an agreement two weeks ago. All of Dodge County’s prisoners have been transferred to the Saunders County jail in Wahoo. Negotiations are under way for Saunders County to also take over booking and holding operations in Fremont. Those operations could potentially employ about 10 of the more than 20 Dodge County employees expected to lose their jobs.
