In New York City news, a panel of judges ruled on Tuesday that the Metropolitan Transit Authority is obligated to give subway and bus employees a 3 percent raise next year as well as lower health care contributions. The MTA had made claims that a contract agreement reached in arbitration was unaffordable and has been making legal challenges which culminated with Tuesday’s Appellate Division ruling.
