Army exceeds recruiting goals to start FY10Staff report

All three Army components kicked off the new fiscal year by exceeding their recruiting goals in October, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.
The active Army recruited 6,914 new soldiers, 101 percent of its goal of 6,858. Its goal for the year is 74,500 new soldiers.
The Army National Guard reported 4,425 new accessions, which is 112 percent of its goal of 3,947.
Army Reserve had 2,430 accessions, making 128 percent of its 1,900 goal, according to U.S. Army Recruiting Command.
The Guard plans to recruit 60,000 new soldiers and the Reserve has a goal of 20,000 in fiscal 2010.
