Another dead satellite will crash into Earth soon
One satellite down, one more to go.

NASA says the defunct UARS satellite that went missing after burning through the Earth’s atmosphere last week ended up crash landing in the South Pacific near Christmas Island.

Now, another dead satellite is making a beeline for Earth. Officials at the German Aerospace Center say a decommissioned Roentgen Satellite, a former X-ray space observatory, will crash into the earth in November.

They’re not sure where or when the satellite will strike, but it’s likely to be during the early part of the month. And this one brings more potential for damage that UARS.

It’s estimated that as much as 1.6 tons of satellite wreckage could survive the fiery fall and crash into the Earth’s surface, partly because Roentgen’s mirrors are protected against heat.

1. I hope it flattens my car in my driveway
I could maybe make some cash like the Peekskill Meteorite Car slammed by a meteor. I've always been hoping for a meteor strike, but short of that, I'll take an out of control satellite any time.

2. Hope you have collision coverage.
Otherwise you might just have a large, slightly bizarre, lawn ornament...

5. OMG! And after we spent so many 100s of billions on Star Wars technology
Oh, that's right. I forgot that Star Wars technology never worked. We couldn't figure out how to shoot down incoming ICBMs (unless we rigged the tests) and now we can't figure out how to stop old satellites from crashing to earth. Gee, it's a good thing there aren't asteroids out there coming at us. Wouldn't want more people getting disappointed in all that technology that doesn't work.
