So what happened to the "Color Alerts" ? remember those? |
|
2002-2005 we had all those "OMG THE TERRORISTS ARE COMIN TA KILL OUR MALLS" color alerts? and then Bush settled in for term #2 and they utterly disappeared?
has either candidate commented on whether or not they plan to keep the color system in place once Bush leaves office?
I'd be just fine with a complete dismantling of DHS into its respective agencies, just to erase any lasting vestiges of the Bush Administration, but that's just me, and it's probably grossly impractical.
still though.. I kinda got used to the Yellow and Orange Alerts. it felt good to know that the shadow of terrorism loomed over us alll......

6. Does FOX still use them on the crawl? |
|
I rarely watch FOX, but it seems to me that they were still running it long after the other networks quit.

8. I think we have been at orange for so long |
|
that it has faded to peach. (Not really a joke, I pass through TSA screening a couple of times a month and it has really faded to the point it looks like an old advertisement in a store window)

I remember those. After their initial stress factor they became somewhat annoying. I never knew what the color codes exactly meant. Nor did I at all know what to do as a result of the color code announcements.
I think they gave up when the color codes finally became comedic fodder for SNL, John Stewart, The Colbert Report, and Mad TV.
Those codes probably would have worked if each color had indicated an assigned public response.
