National group criticizes curfew for homeless
By Chris Joyner

Jackson Mayor Frank Melton’s plan to institute a 10 p.m. curfew for homeless people is drawing fire from a national group that advocates for the homeless.

The National Coalition for the Homeless, a Washington-based group, is threatening to organize a protest in Jackson if the curfew is enacted.

“If the city of Jackson goes through with this, it will be the first curfew (on homeless people), the first law of its kind in the county,” said Michael Stoops, acting executive director of the group...

1. Actually, it could be to their advantage
If the penalty for being out past curfew is going to jail for the night... well, then, hey, they get a hot meal and a warm place to stay.

I hope that's the situation, and there's a nice way for the homeless to totally abuse through satyagraha this loathsome law, and work it to their advantage. That would be sweet!

But other than that, I can only ask - what the fuck? Who comes up with a dumbass stupid law like this?

2. How is a curfew for the homeless supposed to work?
You're homeless--you have no home. Meaning you have no home to go to when it's 10pm.
