Vatican: 'Deeply rooted' gays can't be priests

November 12, 2005

BY NICOLE WINFIELD

ROME -- A long-awaited Vatican document says practicing gays, those with ''deeply rooted'' homosexual tendencies or those who support gay culture cannot be admitted to the priesthood, an Italian newspaper reported Friday.

Any candidate with ''passing'' homosexual tendencies that were never acted on must have overcome them for at least three years for them to be ordained, a conservative daily, Il Giornale, reported.

It said the eight-page document from the Vatican's Congregation for Catholic Education would be made public Nov. 29. Il Giornale said it had seen the document and provided full quotes in its report. Previous reports have cited only sources familiar with it and provided only partial citations. AP

BUT....no official tape-measure/ruler to check the depth of those roots...

1. 'Deeply rooted'???
As opposed to "only on Sundays"? That's just weird. Notice pedophiles are still welcome.

2. Looks like Faith, Hope, and Love will remain on the back burner
What, another Pope who is obsessed with sexuality, yet blithely unconcerned with the fact that three-quarters of the world's population is suffering everything from discrimination to genocide, or worse?

Gays. Evolution. Substitutionary retribution. Bah! We need bread and fishes and someone to break the chains of slavery -- not the hobbies of officialdom.

--p!
It's not just a passing hierophancy.

3. Pope and Bush are twins

This is really insane!

I knew the moment I saw that pope that he had something to "overcome."

This is getting really crazy!

4. Yeah, right.
Personally I'm still trying to "overcome" my heterosexual tendencies-because, as we all know, people are much more healthy when they suppress their sexuality.

For proof, look no further than the inhabitants of the Vatican.

Ignorant fools.

5. This from a prissy little virgin
who dresses up - along with his all-male chorus line - in outfits that would leave any drag queen gasping in admiration?

I do believe the use of the word "root" is so Freudian that I must go and smoke a cigar and calm myself down.

Sexual preaching from professional virgins. Isn't that a lot like naming deadly bombs "Peacekeepers"?

8. This is still fallout from the sex scandles
The conventional wisdom in the heirarchy now is that it is ONLY gay priests that committed these crimes. That if you purge all gays, you then purge the problem. That is the theory, of course it is nonsense, but you need a scapegoat.
