When did the bible get banned in the U.S. ? |
|
I have to ask that question because from what i see on some of these 'Religious' cable channels it must have been banned right?
So I want to know when it was banned?
I have another question as well.
Since we have been living in the 'End if Days' for hundreds of years now why do you need money?
God can part seas but he needs money.

I never noticed. Too many Bible thumpers here. As for god needing money, why not create some? We have lived in the end times since Christianity started and this is the end result.

5. It started long before that |
|
It actually began way back in the 20s when the radio started to be accesible and they could stay in one place and fleece the believers rather than traveling the country.

7. 1789. Government was banned from establishing it or prohibiting it. |
|
I believe the exact date was September 25, 1789. The verbiage of the legislation in question:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"
There you go. It was banned from government establishment, and the government was banned from prohibiting it. A very good system, IMHO...Too bad it has been significantly eroded in recent years.

8. Important Supreme Court cases. |
|
1. Vashti McCollum wanted to stop her son's public elementary school from holding Bible classes in the classroom during school hours. While her son was allowed to be excused, the school put him in a room that was only used for detention. So her son got a stigma for not liking the Bible and being a "bad boy" who had to sit out Bible class in the detention room. So her case got Bible classes eliminated from public school curriculae.
2. Ed Schempp and Madelyn Murray O'Hare had a joint case to the Supremes. They got public schools to stop using religious prayers as part of the daily routine like the Pledge of Allegiance. Same reason as McCollum: by allowing religion into the curriculum where children are forced to attend school, some children who in a minority will be pariahs by their fellow classmates for not joining in. The Constitution exists (Establishment Clause here) to protect societal minorities from the demands of the majorities.
I met both Vashti McCollum and Ed Schempp. They were very interesting.
