Dear friend of independent media & campus-community radio,
(Please let me correct someone's mistakes in notes to Act-MA. There is no
"take-over of WZBC and WMFO." Please read carefully to help out in this
urgent matter about
*localism* in radio, and NOT about any specific station.)
I need to request your urgent action on the future of community, public,
educational and noncommercial radio around Boston.
Please mail a letter today to FCC opposing a specific step by evangelical
broadcast chain CSN International. (Postal mail letters must *arrive* in
Washington by this Friday, March 4, 2005. We believe that no e-mail
mechanism exists for this
opposition because it's not a "docketed proceeding.")
PLEASE use directions at
http://democracies.com and check it again for
updates.
Please do NOT mention other radio stations in your letter, and only oppose
the waiver in your letter on the grounds of localism, as suggested at the
web site.
CSN International (a.k.a. Calvary) applied to the FCC for a half dozen
stations around Boston and over 200 around the U.S. That list appears if you
enter "CSN INTERNATIONAL" beside the "Licensee" field at
http://www.fccinfo.com . But please limit this week's action to ONLY
opposing the waiver described at
http://democracies.com . Thank you!
Kind regards,
John Grebe
