Did anyone else see an article on the dangers of fish oil supplements? |
|
There was an article in the KC Star - I think.
Many of the fish oil supplements come from China and are not regulated at all by the FDA. No one really knows what the hell is in them.
And it is impossible to tell where they come from if you look at the packaging.
So please try to be safe and make sure you know where your fish oil is manufactured. I don't trust China on anything.

5. How about switching to krill oil? Would that be safe from China? I agree, |

EVERYTHING they export is suspect.

6. so if they are dangerous why is Big Pharma pushing it's own version of them? |
|
I'm having a blank moment, but they have been advertising them for months in my area. And I'll bet dollars to donuts they buy their fish oil from China too.

7. The fish oil that Big Pharma sells |
|
is regulated. In other words, the pharmaceutical companies have to prove that it's safe before they can sell it. That's not the case for nutraceutical companies - they can slap whatever shit they want in a bottle and call it "fish oil".

but too bad we can't trust our FDA and Health Canada to protect us any better --- especially from the crap that comes into the country from China. I am still afraid to use some ironware cookery I bought from Giant Tiger because it may contain god-knows-what and there is nowhere I can find out. I guess I will have to grow flowers in them.
Fish oil isn't the only vitamin that worries me. I read that a lot of the vitamin C comes from China too.

11. Its not just fish oil. |
|
There was another big article in the KC Star this weekend. About 20% of fish oil comes from China. But lots of other drugs and supplements come from India and China. And veterinary drugs, too.
And I don't anyone of them is checked very well. They could have anything in them.
