3. I'm happy to recommend this because I see it not as a call to remove children... |

from their parents but rather the artist pointing out the ridiculous hypocritical attacks lodged at teachers' unions.

5. As a teacher, I can say |
|
that the parents you don't see at parent-teacher conferences are the ones you NEED to see! The country is full of clowns who think we work six hours a day, get summers and holidays off, etc, etc. Uh, we need parents to aid in their childrens' education! This isn't the education factory you see in Pink Floyd's "The Wall!" Parents are teachers, too, and need to realize this.

6. I'm jumpin' ship on this one. |

Parents are not the problem where I am. Politicians , educrats, administrators and (uggh!) "reformers" are.
Parents and teachers have an monumentally important shared vested interest: they both want schools that *work*. That REALLY work.
Politicians, educrats, administrators and "reformers" couldn't care less. .

7. There are bad parents everywhere |
|
I used to work summer school at the most expensive, most exclusive private school in this area. There were just as many kids with crappy parents there as at the school in the urban core where I taught during the school year.
However, the vast majority of parents I have worked with have been involved and doing their best.
