Congress is Ready to Call Intern Teachers "Highly Qualified" |
|
Congress is preparing to redefine non-credentialed beginning teachers in programs such as Teach for America (TFA), and EnCorp, as "Highly Qualified," under NCLB. For more on this latest of Ed Deform travesties, please read http://modeducation.blogspot.com/2010/12/congress-is-ready-to-call-interns.htmlor http://toped.svefoundation.org/2010/12/21/congress-may-legitimize-intern-teachers/

neophytes at the beginning of the school year, taking spots from more qualified applicants. In this way, the board can brag that they are "fully staffed" to start the year. Then, within a month of school starting, a majority of the TFAers quit and those positions go empty because the qualified applicants have taken jobs with other districts. Great strategy. This happened to my wife who was given rave reviews in her interviews, to the point where the supervisor told them, "Hire this woman." There were no positions available because of the TFA-stacking method, so my wife was told, "hold on for a month. After the rookies quit, we'll have a school for you." She felt it was unfair to bail on her present students even one month into the academic year, so she passed on their "offer." Philly missed out, big time. And she will never apply to work there again. Mission accomplished. ADDED - it does appear that this is just another front in the attack on public education by the pukes and the Obama administration.

getting the endorsement from the teachers, union affiliated or not. This is yet another effort to further dumb down the population. If I had a young child now, and some of these non-credentialed teachers were teaching my child, I would just as soon home school.
Why is it these putzs think this will improve the education of children? I would not want surgery preformed by a doctor with alternative certifictions, so why would I want that for my most precious asset-my child. In places like Finland and Sweden, teachers are required to have more education such as Masters and Doctorates. This will make the USA the laughing stock of the developed world. We are truly eating our seed corn.
I only have one question.....how much money has TFA and EnCorp paid for this legislation?
