1. Make it a 3 margarita lunch and a golden parachute and I'm there. |
|
The business model, indeed.

2. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. |
|
I wish I could forward this to all the people in our district office without jeopardizing my job.

6. What is sad to me is that it's so... |

...recognizable to teachers. I've experienced a version of this...it's called harassment, and it's wrong.
But this video makes me feel so much better. :7

9. How long will we go down this path before the noneducators |
|
see it as a failure? How many educational professionals will be discarded before then? My guess is it will take many years as teacher after teacher is blamed and fired yet the results don't change. Do you think maybe then they'll listen to those who do the job? If there are any educational professionals left. By then, it may just be TFA or other boot camp trained "teachers" doing the job and they won't have a clue.
It's futile.

10. I figure it won't be fixed before I retire |
|
I feel like my whole career has been a battle. I never dreamed it would be WORSE now than it was in 1980 when I started teaching.

11. I have a while to go before retirement |
|
I started teaching as a second career. I may need to look around at something else. The sad thing is if they just left me alone to do my job, without interference, I'd be fine. It's all the bureaucratic distractions that take us away from teaching and learning.
