These people will see what profiteering charter school "stewards" really are up to. Too bad the consequences of this type of ideology will be suffered by the children.

are somehow part of a cure-all for what ails public schools these days. Sure, if you cherry pick the best students you'll have better outcomes. But public schools are open to all. This is an effort to denigrate the whole idea of public schooling and also to further weaken the labor union movement and cause in the United States.
I see this also as a reaction to our post-industrialized economy. Not everyone is or should be headed towards the traditional 4 year college. Certainly, in socialized western European nations there are plenty of other options for students, esp. in Germany, which is now one of the world's major exporters along with China. There is nothing wrong with learning a trade well and producing a fine product, but until we have something for people to actually produce, we can't improve on it in our economy.

I voted no....but don't have high hopes for this poll. This district just voted 60-40 for a teabagger demagogue to replace Rep. Grayson.
I'm thinking analytical thinking ability is in relatively short supply.

6. I am turned off by the regimented chanting |
|
I've talked to several parents who had their own kids enrolled in KIPP. Some still there, some back in the traditional schools. And all of them thought the chants were bizarre and wondered what purpose they serve.
I am reminded of Nazi children chanting allegiance to Hitler. Yuck.
