Anyone else here waiting for their National Board scores? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 01:05 PM by Goblinmonger
I can't believe it takes them until November to get it all together.
This was my first run at National certification. I am hoping that I miss by as few points as possible so that I only have to redo one entry. Oh, sure, it would be great to pass, but statistically that won't happen first time around.
Edited to add: NBPTS scores since it may not be clear this is in the Education forum.

I'm looking into doing this but hesitate because the way things are going, I'm thinking why expend all that effort and money when the goal of the DOE is to scrap professional educators. They want $10/hr contract workers to monitor computer based instruction. Our new SPI doesn't support pre-service teacher training becaue anyone can teach.
So I wonder if it's worth it.

2. That is what I have been thinking too. Our district is hiring |

"support facilitators" which have to be certified teachers but get paid sub pay. My NB certification will expire next year, and I will not be renewing it. There is really no incentive to renew at a cost of close to $2,000 especially in Florida where the ruling class has no desire to fund education.
Even at the federal level there is no real interest in teacher quality. They only want to privatize education so they can siphon off the money into their corporate pockets.
I apologize for being so down on education and the country in general, but I live in Florida so it is an especially awful day.
I think it is great that you completed the NB process and wish you all the best.

4. That sucks. Wisconsin is being relatively supportive of NB Cert |

We will get our money back that we paid for certification plus a yearly grant for the license term. Overall, it was probably the best professional development I have done in over 20 years of teaching.

That's why I'm not doing it. Not worth it.

5. Good luck, and maybe you'll pass all parts! |

I started down that road with a few classes toward certification but working on my Masters at the same time was too much to do.
Just as well as I left the classroom as soon as my Masters was done.

I missed last year by one point so I redid one entry. I aced the testing center but blew my entries. I am kind of pissed it is taking so long given the amount that is charged by them. I didn't pay it admittedly, NC pays for us, but still for the amount of money they get, timely results should happen.
