Free Speech TV: Fetal Positions - Documentary on Clinic violence |
|
If you've ever been around a clinic where protesters are, you know the violence I'm talking about.
If you get a chance and can find this program again, give it a look, tape it and play it for those women who say "I'm not a feminist, but...."
It's not women at the clinics, it's men shouting and threatening. It's not women passing the laws on women's bodies, it's men (primarily.) It's not women blowing the buildings up and shooting at the staff - it's men.
It's domestic terrorism and gender terrorism and we have to call it what it is before we're all under the thumb of the radical anti-freedom types.

1. To paraphrase a sign on a bus I saw |
|
"95 percent of the leaders of the 'pro-life' movement are white males over the age of 55. 0 percent of them will ever be pregnant."

And the few women in the movement have a rather higher than normal rate of availing themselves to the very services they're against, according to anecdotes from various clinic workers I know. (I know I ended up escorting a couple regulars from the Colo Springs Clinic - where I used to be an escort - at another site after I'd moved....)
Because, you know, when you don't believe in birth control, and the heat of the moment happens....

I really thought it was a top-quality documentary.
I appreciate the work escorts do SO much.

It's worth it. We have no shortage of volunteers.
At the clinic I volunteer at, we have a post-menopausal women who is running the show. She's hilarious. She makes inaccurate historical references, makes statements of questionable legality, shows pictures that are not to scale, repeats herself when she runs out of material. I had a hard time keeping a straight face when she blamed me for Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.
Of the rest, the ones who show up most regularly are men, the few women of childbearing age are wearing nun's habits. So we have a group of people who can't get pregnant due to biology, women who have taken a vow of chastity, and a woman for whom it's too late and she has regrets. How do I know? She said it herself.
