http://www.lifeissues.org/radio/r2000/r00-03/lr2275.htmlI am doing some research for a fund raising idea I have for my local Planned Parenthood and came across this load of crap. It is so amazing to me that people swallow this whole. bald faced lies. talk to a dr. or a nurse from the fifties and sixties and they will tell you what the reality was. asshole doesn't even know what a knitting needle is " One of the favorite instruments by mid-wife abortionists in times past was a knitting needle. This is a long spike that tapers to a fine point and has a little, almost like a fish-hook barb on the end. That's used to grab the yarn and pull it back through in the process of knitting." http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= &imgrefurl= http://dirs.org/wiki-article-tab.cfm/knitting_needle&h=468&w=800&sz=46&tbnid=MHYxQhXSP0IJ:&tbnh=83&tbnw=142&hl=en&start=2&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dknitting%2Bneedle%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DNhttp://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= &imgrefurl= http://www.spellingtuesday.com/circular_co.html&h=225&w=300&sz=13&tbnid=S9g_2R3W2esJ:&tbnh=83&tbnw=111&hl=en&start=114&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcrochet%2Bhook%26start%3D100%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DNthis person has clearly confused a crochet hook and a knitting needle. "fish hook barb", that is laughable. here is reality http://www.fwhc.org/qa/ab-debate.htmsee#3 for the part about back alley's and reality

what he described is actually a crochet hook!!
I knitting needle doesn't have a hook on it. Apparently, whoever wrote this has not done much knitting or crocheting.........but I'm not sure how that relates to mid wives.

9. Not only that, but MIDWIFE abortionist is an oxymoron |
|
Even today, the place to find prolife nurses is in the OB and neonate wards. Most other nurses are prochoice.
The guy's betraying his rabid sexism as well as his abysmal ignorance.
Not only that, but the knitting needle was the self abortion. If you could pay for an abortion, the methods varied widely, from checking you into the hospital under the alias of Mrs Soandso for a D&C to injecting a strong soap or saline solution directly into the uterus.
Women who went the knitting needle or coathanger route ran the greatest risk of all. Dying from uterine rupture or massive sepsis was a horrible death.
And that is what these men want us to return to.

2. Please, hangars were used also. Whatever shape |

did the job worked. Without a doctor, you could kill yourself, and that happened often. When was the last time someone bled to death because they couldn't get an abortion in the US?

took me two minutes to google up pictures of both. People who talk out of their asses are usually assholes.
(not that I needed pics, I knit, but for emphasis, I included them in my post)

7. Notice the dig at "mid-wife"s |
|
as if dropout med students, veterinarians, and incompetent or intoxicated physicians weren't also doing weren't doing illegal abortions. Since midwives are traditionally women, this is another 'blame women for women's deaths' tactic.
